The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Law and Order Department consists of 13 Patrol Officers, 7 Detention Officers, 5 Communication Officers, 2 Drug Investigators,1 Criminal Investigator, 1 School Resource Officer, 1 Domestic violence Investigator, 1 Chief of Police, 1 police Captain, 1 transport Officer, 1 police clerk and 1 cook.

The communication officers are responsible for answering the phone calls from the public and dispatching Police Officers, Fish and Wildlife Officers, Ambulance, Fire, Hazmat and other emergency personnel.
Detention officers perform duties such as Bailiff for Court trials, filling in as communication officer, prisoner care and needs at the tribal jail.

The police department provides services twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. In addition to investigating crimes and taking reports from individuals the officers also provide security for several tribal functions, including meetings, polls, Pow-Wows, funerals, buildings, and sites which may require extra patrol.

All of the Officers and the Task Force are available to give talks and presentations at schools or community events.
Officers do safety presentations at Halloween for the head start kids and deliver presents donated by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai employees at Christmas

The department provides services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our staff investigate crimes, take reports, all while providing school and community talks and offering security to public events like powwows, meetings and buildings.
