Fee Purchases...
The Lands Technician (Fee Purchases) is primarily
responsible for the purchase of fee properties offered to the
Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The acquisition
Technician also works with Natural Resources Department staff
to acquire trust properties for the Tribes that meet ARCO, BPA
and KERR wildlife habitat criteria. The minimum information
required for purchasing property is:
- the sellers name, address and phone number
- the legal description of the property (Township, Range,
Section, ¼ Section, etc.)
- a brief inventory of what is on the property
- the asking price
- whether or not the seller would be willing to remove a
home(s) from the property, if one or more exist. (The Tribal
Council is not interested in purchasing property with homes.)
The Lands Technician completes all steps needed to complete
sales transactions including, but not limited to, deed
searches, map preparation, drafting Council presentation
materials, preparing buy/sell agreements, ordering title
insurance and reviewing closing statements. The Technician
also coordinates updates to the Tribal land ownership data
base.
